Please note that ALL Extra Curricular Subjects , including private tuition or group tuition, require the statutory terms notice in writing, given to the relevant teacher, at the start of the term in which the subject is to end.
Qualified and experienced peripatetic teachers come into school to take Abbey pupils for extra curriculum lessons relating to private tuition, for which termly fees are payable. Currently the following extra curricular activities are available as Private Tuition:-
Ballet, Tap Dance, Modern Jazz Dance, Drama, Chess, Piano, Recorder, Tennis, Singing, Violin, and Woodwind.
There are also limited classes for 11+ entrance pupils who may benefit from private tuition in exam techniques relating to Verbal Reasoning, English and Maths. Please ask at the office.
Many Abbey children learn to play musical instruments, and from an early age are encouraged to participate in the school orchestra. Musicians need an audience, and to see such young musicians cooperating in orchestral playing is a joy to behold. Speech and Drama pupils also need to perform to an audience, and solo performers join in local festivals and our own annual performing arts Eisteddfod.
Fees vary for the different subjects, however, all require the statutory terms notice in writing, at the start of the term in which the subject is to end. For more details please email the General Office using This Link or telephone 01803-327868.
Speech & Drama, Music and Dance lessons are not invoiced by the school but by the instrumental/dance teacher concerned (except Recorder). Fees are subject to occasional change at the discretion of the teacher involved and this is not controlled by the school. A term consists of 10 lessons, and to withdraw from these lessons, written notice of one term addressed to the appropriate teacher is required at the start of the term in which the tuition is to end.
Our list of charges is not comprehensive, however, charges for the following are announced when appropriate: canoeing, overseas holidays and residential trips, sailing, singing lessons, photographs, water sports, musical instruments and music books, art and craft club expenses and school text books which are ‘lost’ by pupils.
Again, Please note that ALL Extra Curricular Subjects require the statutory terms notice in writing, given to the relevant teacher, at the start of the term in which the subject is to end.
