KS2 SATs Results 2017

This year we present the SATs results both as an average score and as a % of pupils achieving the expected standards. As s non-selective school, we are delighted with our results, which also found 87% of our Year 6 passing 11+ this year, rather than the national average of 25%.

The National average score can be found below in orange, with Abbey School scores in blue.

The much vaunted “just over half of children have reached the new tougher standard – 53%” refers to the number of children who reached the expected standard in all three subjects. In Abbey School this number was 87%.

New key stage 2 assessments in 2017

“The 2017 key stage 2 assessments are the first which assess the new, more challenging national curriculum which was introduced in 2014. New tests and interim frameworks for teacher assessment have been introduced to reflect the revised curriculum. Results are no longer reported as levels, and each pupil will now receive their test results as a scaled score and teacher assessments based on the standards in the interim framework.”

Advice from Head of Profession on comparability over time

“Children sitting key stage 2 tests this year were the first to be taught and assessed under the new national curriculum. The expected standard has been raised and the accountability framework for schools has also changed. These changes mean that the expected standard this year is higher and not comparable with the expected standard used in previous year’s statistics…”

What parents say about our school

We are very pleased with the high standard of teaching and organised curriculum of Abbey school and would highly recommend sending your child to the school. The personalised learning style at Abbey school helps all of the individual needs of each pupil.

Mr R Cherry

For us as parents, Abbey has made memories to cherish from the daily written descriptions of what Andrew has been up to, to cheering him along on his first sports day and on stage in the nursery play. Abbey nursery is, quite simply, a very special place.
