From a present parent
"Our children have a 'can-do' attitude to life which has come directly from
attending Abbey School". - Parent comment
From past parents
Dear Mrs. Greinig,
We wrote after our daughters did so well in their GCSE's but have even
more news to celebrate. In their A Level exams both have come in the top five
results in the country for A Level Computing. We know that their love of
learning and determination to achieve developed from their time at Abbey School.
We would like to thank you most sincerely for all you did for them both.

'Chance Encounters' -
A current teacher's comment
Email received from a member
of staff first thing on Monday Morning.
‘I was posting a letter in the box outside the
school gate on Friday evening when a parent, clutching the hand of a very smart
little girl in Abbey Uniform, came up to me and told me her daughter was so
happy at Abbey and that it was a joy to bring her into school each day.
Unfortunately she was not a parent I knew and the little girl was not a pupil I
teach so I didn't catch a name before she was gone, beaming all over her face. I
can tell you, that boosted my weekend.’ Miss

On
leaving Abbey Nursery for the Midlands
Dear Abbey School,
We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your hard
work and dedication to The Abbey School. Not only has it meant that our children
have been nurtured and cared for, but also that they have been lucky enough to
have met the nursery teachers and benefited from their skill.
We appreciate your ability to run such a great nursery; keep up the great
work. All our best wishes. Nancy, Peter, Louise and Olivia
Campbell.

On Pupil Achievement - A teacher's
perspective
Email received from a teacher the morning after
our annual Eisteddfod of music, speech and drama, in which the whole school
participates.
I flew home in an
absolute whirl tonight, after the Eisteddfod at school. It was a really
wonderful day, full of exquisite moments which I keep returning to in my mind. I
have honestly never seen young children who are so competent at ease standing in
front of a full hall and performing fearlessly. I have never seen anything that
even approaches the skills and confidence that the Abbey children all seem to
have in some measure. They really were wonderful, and I felt I had had one
of those days that you never, ever forget. I found the very first moments of the
day quite amazing, when tiny four year olds stood up and recited poems really
powerfully... I am now going to bore all my friends senseless by telling them
every detail of all of it....over and over again...! Mrs.F.Freer
Out of the mouths ...
Comment to teacher from clarinet player at orchestra
rehearsal.
I like orchestra. At Christmas when we played in the Christingle and I was
very nervous but now I really enjoy it.
A snippet from a conversation between a parent and
14-year old on returning from a 'successful' secondary school parent evening.
Parent: This (x
secondary) school is the best thing that's happened for you.
Child: No. It's second best. Abbey School was the best thing.
Request from a former pupil
Dear
Mrs Greinig
Please
may we organise a pupil reunion? School has never been the same as when we were
at The Abbey. We were all so happy - keen to work, enjoying the lessons as well
as the sports, music and the company of our friends. People say their schools
are happy, but they just don't know what it was like for us!
Sincerely
James
Pupil Success – a true sense of achievement!
Email received from a pupil following a Chess
Tournament. You can feel the delight and excitement right off the page!
Dear
Mrs. Greinig,
Today
the Abbey U9 Chess team played in the annual congress and we came 1st.
I scored 6 out of 6 points and won the U9 individual 1st prize.
Robert and Harry won the joint under 8 prize, Sophie came second and won best
girl in the under 11 section. Paris just missed the third place, so we had a
really good day, we will bring the trophies in on Monday, I hope you are pleased
with us. Callum.
